2SMOOV — THE HORN BEHIND 44/876

Known in the studio as 2smoov, David Tv Barnes is the horn voice behind Sting & Shaggy’s Grammy‑winning album 44/876, serving as Horn Section Leader, Horn Arranger, and saxophonist on every track. From Brooklyn basements to international studios, his saxophone and horn writing have become a signature sound that connects reggae, pop, and cinematic campaign work.

From a Brooklyn Basement to the World Stage

The sound of 44/876 wasn't built in a corporate studio; it was built on trust and overnight execution. David began recording in Shaggy's basement, earning the respect of Sting International and Shaggy himself through a relentless standard of "Independently Operated" excellence.

When the call came to assemble the horn section for Sting and Shaggy, David didn't just play—he architected. He recruited the musicians, wrote the arrangements, and directed the sessions that would eventually sweep the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. This is the "2smoov" standard: high-stakes delivery under any conditions.

GRAMMY STANDARD & GLOBAL CAMPAIGNS

David’s call for 44/876 came while he was ordering a sandwich—Sting International needed a horn section the next day, and David assembled, arranged, and led the entire section overnight for the sessions that became the Grammy‑winning Best Reggae Album. His full horn‑section leadership and album‑wide saxophone credit are documented on Muso.ai and in the official album credits.

The same sound traveled into advertising when his music was licensed for the launch of the Fiat 500 Star and 500 Rockstar, where his horn anchored a major European campaign for Stellantis / Fiat alongside Sting and Shaggy. What started in a Brooklyn basement became a Grammy, and what started with a Grammy became the soundtrack for one of the world’s most recognizable car brands.
